For a very long time, I had dreamed of having a dog of my own. But we lived in a rented house, and the landlord strictly forbade us from keeping pets. The landlord claimed that other tenants didn’t want to see a dog in the building. That was complete nonsense. I knew the families living on the third and fourth floors—they all wanted a dog too. The truth was, the landlord himself didn’t like dogs.
